Research program
My work asks how LGBTQ communities in South Korea contest exclusion and reshape democratic life. I move across three related areas: the politics of movement and democracy, the health consequences of discrimination, and the infrastructure of queer studies as an academic field. Datasets produced through these projects are collected at the bottom of the page.

Queer Democracy — Movement & Politics
How LGBTQ activists in South Korea build coalitions and reshape democratic life. My dissertation traces the historical trajectory of the Korean LGBTQ movement and its struggle against discrimination, linking movement formation to the politics of solidarity and anti-discrimination law.
한국 성소수자 활동가들이 연대를 어떻게 만들어가며 민주주의의 지평을 넓혀왔는지 살핍니다. 박사논문은 한국 성소수자 운동의 역사를 차별에 맞선 싸움과 함께 추적하면서, 운동의 형성을 연대의 정치와 차별금지법을 둘러싼 투쟁 속에서 읽어냅니다.
Health, Discrimination & Inequality
Quantitative and mixed-methods studies of discrimination and inequality. For sexual and gender minorities, I trace pathways through coming out, minority stress, and mental health. More broadly, I also examine sexual violence and discrimination at work and in institutions.
차별과 불평등을 양적 방법과 혼합 방법론으로 연구합니다. 성소수자를 대상으로는 커밍아웃, 소수자 스트레스, 정신건강으로 이어지는 경로를 추적하고, 더 넓게는 직장과 제도에서 일어나는 성폭력과 차별을 살핍니다.
Queer Studies as a Field
Meta-research on queer studies in South Korea — its bibliographic record, its researchers' working conditions, and the ethical and institutional infrastructure that shapes what can be studied and by whom.
